Domestic Violence
Abstract:
Domestic violence is a pervasive public health issue. This course is designed to enhance your understanding of domestic violence by discussing the prevalence of domestic violence and reviewing key findings from the research on domestic violence, including how domestic violence may be defined. Risk markers for domestic violence and the intersections between intimate partner violence and other crimes, including sexual violence, stalking, and homicide will also be explored. Common reactions experienced by victims/survivors of stalking will be discussed. Screening/assessment strategies, safety planning, and resources available to assist victims/survivors of domestic violence will also be examined. This course meets the Domestic Violence license renewal requirement for Florida Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Mental Health Counselors, and Certified Master Social Workers.
